Group Structure

Two or three working groups

Participants work in two or three groups (depending on the final number of participants), each developing one prototype panel — balancing individual participation, collaboration, technical feasibility and fabrication time.

Group 1

Geometric Ornament

Geometric pattern analysis, modular structures, symmetry and repetition.

Group 2

Vegetal Ornament

Floral and vegetal motifs, organic line structures and surface articulation.

Group 3 · if formed

Experimental / Hybrid Ornament

Abstract, figurative, cubist, line-based or computationally manipulated reinterpretations.

Each group produces

One 2D interpretation / analytical drawing · one digital twin model · one computationally reinterpreted design · one fabrication-ready file · one CNC-fabricated prototype panel · process materials for the web-based digital exhibition.

Materials & Fabrication

A controlled prototype process

The fabrication component is a controlled prototype production process — not large-scale manufacturing. The aim is to test how historical ornament references can be digitally reconstructed, computationally reinterpreted and translated into CNC-fabricated relief panels within the technical and time limits of the Vitruvius FabLab.

Timber is the primary material due to its suitability for CNC machining, manageable production time, availability and cost efficiency. Stone remains a cultural-heritage reference rather than the production material.
